LDAAT Strategy
LDAAT's guiding framework
The National Drug Strategy and the Government's latest drug strategy 'Safe. sensible. Social.' provide the national regulatory framework for Drug Action Teams like LDAAT to deliver the four main themes:
- protecting communities
- preventing harm to children
- delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration
- developing public information campaigns to promote the work being done
The guiding legislative framework for the work of LDAAT is set out in the following strategic documents:
National Drug Strategy
The National Drug Strategy aims to reduce the harm that drugs cause to society, communities, individuals and their families.“Drugs: Protecting families and communities 2008 – 18”, is a ten-year strategy to restrict the supply of illegal drugs and reduce demand for them.

It aims to change the drinking culture, outlining the role police, local communities, local authorities, the NHS, voluntary organisations, the alcohol industry and others can play.
