Lancashire Comes Together To Discuss The Next Steps For Our Young People

On Friday 4th of July, Lancashire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (LDAAT) hosted the ‘Next Steps’ event in Preston which saw over 75 multi- agency representatives from across the county coming together to discuss the future of tackling substance misuse within our young people population.
The event saw presentations from key organisations detailing the current success in developing Young People’s services alongside how LDAAT can become more integrated and work to new children and young people’s structures and national systems.
With the recent release of the new National Drugs Strategy (NDS) and the focus being on protecting families and communities, LDAAT saw this as an opportunity to bring together both adult and young people’s services and key partner organisations to discuss how the new ten year strategy can be implemented and influence future service developments.
During the afternoon, specially designed workshops gave the attendees the opportunity to consider the following prominent themes within the NDS: Early Intervention, Communications and Communities, Family Support and Children’s Centres, Vulnerable and under represented groups. The sessions provided a chance to share good practice, thoughts on future service developments and structures and make contacts with other agencies working within the field.
