YP Case Study for New NDS Launch

Sat 1st Aug 2009

Lancashire Drug and Alcohol Team (LDAAT) has commissioned effective Young People’s substance misuse treatment services.

The services, which are funded, by LDAAT and the Primary Care Trusts receive investment of just over a £1million per year.

The services work with young people up to the age of 21 who have problems with illicit drugs and alcohol use.

Two voluntary sector organisations, one large national organisation, addaction and the other a smaller regional organisation Early Break provide the services.

These providers work very closely with other local partners to ensure an integrated approach; they also cover the whole of Lancashire including the many rural areas of the county.

Already this year over 600 young people in Lancashire have engaged with the treatment services and have received help for their problems with drugs and alcohol.

The services in East Lancashire also include a small team aimed specifically at young people from an Asian background.
